There is a reason Jesus says that those who listen to and heed His words are wise and have built their house on a rock. The rock is unyielding, unchanging, strong, firm, and permanent. Not so with the sand. It can change in the course of a day, when the tide comes in. It can change when the rain falls. It yields and shifts and changes.
God is our Rock, our permanent, strong, unyielding, and unchanging Lord and Savior.
The things of the world are sand…
