Transdisciplinarity is at the heart of Mark Eckel’s teaching over three decades as K-12, undergraduate, and graduate professor. Mark’s courses always emphasize care for contextualization, cultural engagement, and pedagogical variation. Dr. Eckel has given hundreds of seminars, speeches, and scores of keynotes on education, culture, faith-learning integration, communication, theology, leadership, and movies. He was awarded Teacher of the Year in 1995 by Cedarville University and the Heart of Leadership Award by Lenawee Christian School in 2010.

Dr. Eckel’s students love his societal intersections with film, the focus of his book When the Lights Go Down. His prior book I Just Need Time to Think encourages reflective study. Mark’s three published curricula are used worldwide. He has authored or contributed to four other books others, while writing dozens of journal and encyclopedia articles. 1000 essays, audio podcasts and video teaching appear on his Warp & Woof website. The Comenius Institute is a non-profit started by Mark, committed to serving the Indianapolis community. Mark is dedicated to the teaching-learning process in the academe as a shepherd, in the community as a servant.
