Hi Dr. Eckel,
I got your name through my pastor, Larry Renoe. In one of his recent sermons, he mentioned the fact that the church needs scholars – and that statement both thrilled and frightened me…I’ve been wrestling with a desire to engage in Christian scholarship as ministry for several years now. In our brief follow-up conversation, he recommended I reach out to you! I guess my primary question is: in your experience, what kind of training should I be looking for to prepare for public theology? Some of my favorite things are studying the Bible and writing about it; my passion (and BA) is Biblical Studies, and my goal is to convey theological truths in a way anyone can understand and be moved to worship the God of the Bible. Where is the best place to start?
