Theology (I)

Everything is Theological

theology I

The sign has hung on my office door for years:

everything is theological.

theology IIMy mind is on auto-pilot.  I ask these questions about every idea, historical person, or current event:

What was God’s original intention?

How has sin corrupted ______ ?

How should the Christian reclaim ______ ?

Over the next weeks, I will be introducing new pages I have filed under “Mark’s Theo” (a drop down at the top of this page).  Many of these pages have been constructed in the past.  Usually, the statements are between 500 and 550 words.  I have been training myself and my students to practice biblical theology in a direct, to-the-point, overview manner.  I believe we must be able to simply declare what we believe.  These statements will fit on a standard 8.5 x 11″ sheet of paper.  I refer to them as my “one page theologies.”  In the back of my mind, the three questions above provide some framework of thought for each statement.  theology-matters

This week I will highlight three theologies (click on each hyperlink):

Why am I here?  To whom am I responsible?  And how am I to treat other humans?

What is the reason for evil in the world?  Why do I participate in evil?  What do I need to overcome evil?

Is there any hope for the world?  How do I know what true salvation is?  How does the eternal impact the here and now?

Everything is theological.

How we live in this life depends on where we are going in the next.

Mark has been teaching theological application to all of life for over 30 years.  He now teaches Leadership, Education & Discipleship at Capital Bible Seminary, Washington, D.C. and lives in Indianapolis, IN.
